“ODD GIRL OUT!”

Tear-Drops-Girls

While sitting in the school cafeteria eating lunch all alone;

The laughter around her grows louder.

The girls at the next table stare harder;

Eye contact becomes too much to bear.

Whispering to one another as they give her the smirk grin;

as they lower their eyebrows as a sign of dominance.

As one mean girl leaves the table to go whisper into the

Ear of a boy sitting at another table.

At that moment, the boy begins to laugh;

while whispering to the other guys at his table.

They all laugh and look over at the girl sitting alone.

At that moment the fight or flight feeling sets in and she must leave.

She must get out of the cafeteria and find a safe place.

There is no safe place when you’re the “Odd Girl Out!”

Her heart beating faster & faster, feels as though it will jump out of her chest.

Why is there such joy & laughter behind the dark mistreatment of another?

What is it about the girl who’s become the chosen one?

Why must she be subjected to harassment & bullying?

Why does that make the bully feel dominant, free and in control?

Is the self-esteem of her peers so low, that they demand some sort of abnormal attention?

They are all old enough to know that this cowardly act is not a game!

What runs through the minds of those who bully others?

Such behavior is often too incomprehensible to imagine;

For the school, parents and especially for the Odd Girl Out!

    1. It posted just fine. Thank you again. I know this case is a few years old, but it still tugged at my heart. I too remember the mean girls and boys in school who thought they could steal lunch money from other children, knock their books out of their hands and push them into the lockers, etc. These days, children have to really be careful about who they call a friend.

          1. I know… I remember one of Bailey’s friends saying…your parents can be strict…Bailey never thought so but I just wanted to know what was going on. I told him there is a reason I’m your parent. He was raised an only child so he was around adults more than kids.
            There are some out there…but it’s a scary place.

            1. It’s a very scary world out there.
              We as parents have to know certain things. It’s not like we are being too nosey or trying to get into their business as I have heard young people say, it’s the fact we want them to be safe and we love them.
              My own personal opinion of children growing up around more adults is that it makes them more mature and not so childish.
              I sure hope you have a great day!

    1. Thank you, Max…they can be very mean. I read an article on Yahoo about two girls that murdered their friend just because they said they didn’t like her. The murdered girl had sneaked out of the house to meet with the two girls she thought were her friends. They drove to a location where they started smoking weed and on the count of three, the two murderers started stabbing the other girl. After the murder one girl post on Twitter that they really went on three. I will post the link. It just made me sick at the stomach. I just don’t understand how people can be so evil. https://abcnews.go.com/US/best-friends-killers-teens-murder-friend-didnt/story?id=24573749

      1. That is so evil and disturbing. Maybe I’m glossing over the bad things when I was younger but I don’t remember stuff like this happening. At least not as much.
        How can someone…even that young cross over the line like that. I would point at the parents but I could be wrong in this case but how is life not important to these girls.

        1. It could be the parenting, or lack of, the need to feel dominate or to prove to everyone they are tough and hard. I’m at a loss myself. It’s a totally different way of life than the one we grew up knowing. These young people have zero respect for themselves and others. Life means absolutely nothing to many of them.

          1. The lack of is what I’m thinking. The online social situation now makes it tougher. The bullying has gone up a notch because of it. I know this one is different but it just shocks me that someone can be this awful.
            I don’t remember things like this…we would have fights….with fists not with knives and guns…and then it was finished.
