Badfinger – “Day After Day”

One of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time, and one of the most beautifully written songs of all time.  It is so sad that this great band was taken advantage of by managers who mismanaged their money and hid vital information from them that should have been discussed with the band, which led to confusion, distress, and the death of two of the band’s members.

Badfinger guitarist Peter Ham wrote this. A few years later, after a dispute with their record label over missing money, Ham committed suicide. Released in 1971 on their album “Straight Up,” and peaked at #4 in the US and #10 in the UK.

George Harrison produced this and played guitar on it. The year before, Peter Ham and Tom Evans from Badfinger played on Harrison’s first solo album, All Things Must Pass.

This sounds a lot like The Beatles. Badfinger was one of the first bands to sign with The Beatles’ label, Apple Records. As a result, they got to know The Beatles quite well and picked up on their sound. Badfinger signed with Warner Brothers when Apple Records folded.

Song Lyrics –

I remember finding out about you
Every day, my mind is all around you
Looking out from my lonely room, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you
I remember holding you while you sleep
Every day, I feel the tears that you weep
Looking out of my lonely gloom, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you

Looking out of my lonely room, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you…
I remember finding out about you
Every day, my mind is all around you
Looking out of my lonely gloom, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you

  1. Well I don’t think you need my comment on this gem! My namesake…oh how I love this band. They should be in the Rock and Roll hall of fame…a beautiful song…probably their best ballad ever…this one and “Without You”

    1. Your comment is always welcomed.
I know you are a huge fan as I am. I listen to this song almost every day.
“Day after Day, ” “Without You, ” and “Baby Blue” are all gems!
They sure should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Thin Lizzy should be there too! I don’t understand the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at all, but I do understand these great bands and their music!
